In the 21st century, environmental protection has become one of the core issues of global concern. Especially in the context of global climate change, the proposal of the dual carbon goal has provided new development directions and challenges for all countries. As an important part of the marine ecosystem, mangrove forests play an irreplaceable role in carbon sequestration, wind and wave protection, and biodiversity conservation. Zhanjiang, Guangdong, as an important coastal city in southern China, is rich in mangrove resources. This study aims to explore the historical background and current situation of mangrove conservation in Zhanjiang, Guangdong, analyze the achievements and bottlenecks in the construction of its protected areas, and propose a path for future development.
